Heights Vision is a full-scope optometry office that offers medical pre-test evaluations for eye diseases as well as eye exams and contact lens exams.
Contact Lens Exam / Fit
A contact lens exam / fit is a separate procedure than an eye exam for glasses. That's why a contact lens prescription is different than an eye glass prescription. In a contact lens exam, the doctor will evaluate the patient's eye, corneal curvature, pupils, tear ducts, inspect the health of the eye and monitor changes from contact lens usage.
In order for the contact lens prescription to be valid, by law, the doctor must examine and properly fit contact lenses every 12 months. Unfortunately, insurance plans seldom cover a contact lens exam / fit copay, as contacts are considered "cosmetic". Please note that this copay applies, regardless if there is a change in prescription.
In addition, for new contact lens wearers or those who do not have contact lens Rx on file, a contact lens teach / training must be completed to ensure patients can safely apply contact lenses. This contact lens teach is also an additional service fee.
Fundus Photo / Retina Scan
Our Zeiss fundus photo / retina scan enables the doctor to photograph through the pupil and into the rear of the patient's eye. This scans for possible abnormalities which include high blood pressure, diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma, detached retina, infections, among other diseases.
With a retina scan, the doctor can provide a more accurate assessment of the patient's eye health. This procedure may be covered with medical insurance but not vision insurance, and depends on patient's individual policies.
Additional state-of-the-art equipment includes an auto-refractor, auto-keratometer, visual field, and other pre-test opthalmic services for a complete vision care experience.
On-Site Optical Lab
As a doctor's office, we are proud to have an on-site optical lab that is equipped to cut and edge lenses; ideal for emergency situations when patients need glasses quickly.
Fine Eyewear
Along with high-quality lenses, Heights Vision also has a boutique optical to dispense fine eyewear.
Many of the frames are hand-crafted from premium materials from around the world. Our optical consultants can assist with frame styling along with lens recommendations.
Philanthropy
Vision care is what we do and we want to extend that care to underserved areas of the world.
Members of our team have volunteered on medical trips in South America and Southeast Asia with humanitarian organizations. Dr. Nguyen states, "Some of them have never had an eye exam and this was their only chance. All my craft fits into a box and goes over the ocean, so I was really grateful to use my skills... and I want to do that again."
